Welcome to my folk art site!
This is a fun site that I decided to build for a platform to share my creative interests. I guess it is dedicated to folk artists like myself throughout Kentucky and the nation.
People get their bowels in an uproar sometimes over titles and labels. In my opinion, the line between fine and folk art is sometimes blurry, In simple dictionary terms, fine art is based upon classical (usually European) traditions and created for visual beauty. It is not utilitarian by nature.
Folk art is based upon folk traditions and usually strives to bring beauty to basically utilitarian items.
Whether you consider yourself a fine, folk or blended artist working as a sculpture, carver, whittle, painter, weaver, or even whittler, this site will hopefully be of interest to you. It might be nice to have a blog sometime in the future. In the meantime, drop me an Email and a link to your site. If is "respectable" and related to folk and/or fine art, I will include it. Hopefully, you will also include a link to my site.
I have quite a few irons in the fire right now, so this site may be a little slow in developing.
